Shell’s People & Progress initiative focuses on personal stories from individuals, owner-operated SMEs as well as community and voluntary organisations that have partnered with Shell over the past decade.

In excess of 6,000 people from more than 300 Irish companies have worked on the team that has helped to bring Corrib gas ashore. The project also helped the Erris region of North Mayo and the town of Belmullet in particular, to weather the worst recession in recent decades.

Companies like Shevlin Engineering in Belmullet, Kilcawley Construction from Sligo and Shay Murtagh Precast based in Co. Westmeath, all attest to the positive impacts that the Corrib project has had on their businesses.  And as a newly qualified civil engineer, Bernie McManamon from Erris, describes how getting an internship on Corrib straight out of college, resulted in a dream start to her career.
