LGP supports 94 organisations in 2009
A total of 94 organisations all over Erris were funded under this year’s Local Grants Programme (LGP), with an overall amount of €350,000 granted in support. There were 123 applications under the two rounds, in January and July.
The outcome of the July round of applications was announced in recent weeks, with 33 organisations receiving support from the programme. There had been 40 applications submitted under the July round.
This is in addition to the 61 organisations that were funded under the January round, out of a total of 83 applications.
The LGP is open to all voluntary and community organisations in the Erris area and has been in existence in its current format since 2008. Among the organisations funded under the July round were sports clubs, cultural groups and community services organisations.
Fiona Togher, Social Investment Advisor for the Corrib gas project, said she was very happy with the success of the programme this year.
“The Local Grants Programme generated a huge number of applications from all corners and all sectors of the community, and we are delighted to have been able to support 94 organisations, all of which do valuable work all over the Erris area.
“The January round of funding under the 2010 programme will be open for applications in the coming weeks,” she said.
