Killybegs operation delivers excellent safety record

The 2011 offshore works came to an end in Killybegs, the main offshore logistics base for the Sedco 711 rig campaign, in October. Once again the highlight of the season was the continued professionalism and commitment to safety of all involved in the Killybegs operation, which led to yet another season that was accident and incident free.

This was also the second year of the Shell sponsorship fund, which is operated in partnership with the rig contractor Transocean. The fund grew this year to support a total of 16 sporting and voluntary organisations in the Killybegs parish.

As an oil distribution company, Shell has had a long association with County Donegal through a link with Donegal Oil.

Also since 2002, SEPIL has had a close connection with the county and especially with Killybegs harbour which has been the supply base for the exploration and subsea construction work on the Corrib Field. Up to €3 million worth of business was generated in Donegal last year with Killybegs port and Carickfin airport the major beneficiaries.
