Corrib Gas Partners announce new Corrib office in Belmullet
18/12/2006
The Corrib Gas Partners today announced their plans to convert a former industrial unit into an office building in Belmullet. The unit, which is on the Údarás na Gaeltachta industrial site, will involve an investment of approximately €1 million
The new office building, which was formally approved by the board of Údarás na Gaeltachta at their meeting on Friday, will accommodate up to 25 staff. It will also include a public display area, which will be used to present audio visual information on the project and to display public records. The new office building will also be used as a training facility for project site staff.
Commenting on the new office building, Terry Nolan, Shell's Mayo-based Deputy Managing Director, said, "We are delighted to be announcing this milestone in the Corrib project. We are determined to deliver this project and our new office in Belmullet will give us an increased presence in the area and will become our regional office in Mayo".
The Corrib project is already bringing many real benefits to the Erris area, especially in the area of job creation. There are currently 170 jobs directly linked to Corrib. The project will generate in excess of 700 jobs in the construction phase, which will begin in earnest next autumn. There will be over 100 direct and full time permanent positions created in the locality in the long term. A similar number of indirect contractor and supplier jobs will also be created once the terminal is operational.
