The Corrib Gas Partners sponsor a number of events.
Shell Pro-Am, Carne Golf Links, Belmullet
Now well established and recognised as one of the top Pro-Ams in the country the Shell Pro-Am, which takes place at the stunning Carne links course in Belmullet, is a key event in the annual PGA calendar. It is also one of the biggest attractions for visitors to the Erris area every year.
Each year the competition attracts the top professional players from all over Ireland, playing alongside keen amateurs eager to mix it with the best.
Recent winners of the event included professional golfers Philip Walton and Damian McGrane.
Erris Agricultural Show
After a gap of 40 years, the Erris Agricultural Show was revived in 2011 and proved an outstanding success. It is re-establishing itself as an annual event for the farming community. With up to 5,000 people attending it is well on its way to being one of the top shows in the county. Hard work and volunteer dedication, combined with sponsorship from the Corrib Gas Partners and others, have made the third Sunday in July a great family occasion in Erris.
This festival may be best-known for its horse-racing and greyhound racing on Doolough beach, but the week of entertainment, culture, show jumping and racing has something for everyone. Locals are joined by people from far and wide every year to enjoy the landscape and activities.
Blacksod Point Challenge
Though it is the last and arguably the most gruelling of the events on the national triathlon calendar series each year, the Blacksod Point Challenge draws people in their hundreds. A combination of the spectacular scenery, the superb facilities provided by the Kilmore Triathlon Club and the warmth of the local welcome has made this a must-attend event for all serious triathletes.
Brave participants undertake a 1,500m Atlantic Ocean swim, a 43Km cycle around Blacksod and finish with a 10Km all-terrain run in one of the most unique and beautiful parts in Ireland.
The Corrib Gas Partners are proud to have supported these event for several years.
This international folk festival, combined with Irish language and culture offerings, continues to grow. Young and old are catered to in this week-long celebration of Irish and international arts, culture and music. With a wide-ranging and eclectic programme, it draws visitors back year after year and showcases some of Erris’s finest natural and cultural amenities.
