The final weld
A critical element of the Corrib Natural Gas project was completed ahead of schedule in 2013 when the final weld on the Aughoose to Bellanaboy terminal was made on 14 November. The contractors for the onshore pipeline are Roadbridge and Murphys. Mechanical testing of the pipeline was completed, without incident, in the past week.
Shell recognised by RSA with Leading Lights Road Safety award
A campaign by Shell E&P Ireland Limited to promote driver safety has been recognised by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) with a Leading Lights Award. The award was presented by Mr Gay Byrne, Chairman RSA, at a function in Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park on Dec 11.
Shell joins forces to launch safe winter driving campaign
Shell E&P Ireland Limited has joined forces with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and Ibec West to highlight the dangers of driving on roads in the west during the winter months. The campaign is based on the slogan “Drive Safely, Arrive Safely: Safety Tips for driving on western roads” and was launched in the Ardillaun Hotel, Salthill, Galway.

Statement from Shell E&P Ireland Limited
Shell E&P Ireland Limited (SEPIL) on behalf of the Corrib Partners; Statoil Exploration (Ireland) Limited and Vermilion Energy Ireland Limited, wishes to express its sincere condolences to the family and co-workers of the German employee of Herrenknecht AG who was fatally injured while working in the Corrib tunnel in Co. Mayo today. SEPIL is co-operating fully with the Garda and Health & Safety Authority investigations, which are currently underway on site.
SEPIL unequivocally rejects OSSL allegations
"Shell E&P Ireland Limited (SEPIL) unequivocally rejects OSSL's allegations regarding delivery at any time of alcohol to An Garda Síochána. SEPIL also therefore rejects the claim that OSSL were paid for delivering alcohol to the Garda. Such actions would constitute a serious breach of the Shell Group's long established business principles and code of conduct to which SEPIL fully commits in the conduct of its operations The claims by OSSL about delivery of alcohol to the Garda in general were first raised in 2011. The claims by OSSL that they had received payment for alcohol allegedly delivered to the Garda in 2005 and 2006, first emerged in late 2012. No evidence has ever been put forward by OSSL or any other party to support these claims."
Shell E&P Ireland Limited Statement
OSSL was a contractor employed by the Corrib gas project from 2005 to 2010 to provide personal protective safety equipment and to perform and coordinate small-scale contracting works, as a sub-contractor to a main contractor.

Erris scholarship programme to continue for a further two-year cycle
The highly successful Corrib Natural Gas Third-Level Scholarship Programme is to continue for a further two-year cycle, until the end of the construction phase of the project. This was announced by Shell E&P Ireland Limited MD Michael Crothers when he addressed the annual scholars’ function in Carne Golf Club last weekend. The event was attended by scholars, their parents and members of the Scholarship Board.
Donegal Mountain Rescue Team
Shell Ireland has come to the assistance of the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) by financing the purchase of performance outdoor clothing for the team members. The Keela coats were presented to Brian Murray, head of the DMRT, and members of the team at the weekend.
